7 Reasons Why Your Prayers Aren't Being Answered

Your thoughts are prayers. Whether you realize it or not, you are constantly sending prayers to the Universe. So, it’s important to be mindful of your thoughts and catch them, acknowledge them and shift them.

Conscious and intentional prayers are when you mindfully connect with a higher power (God, your Higher Self, the Universe, angels, etc.) and ask for help, guidance or support.

Have you been faithful with your prayers, but feel frustrated when they are not answered?

Here are 7 possible reasons why your prayers are not being answered.

  1. Your prayers are for selfish reasons. This is when your human ego and the need for earthly desires takes precedence over the greater good of all. This may include, asking to become rich, successful, famous, or a bestselling author, etc. It’s not that any of these things are bad, it’s the intention behind them. When you pray, make sure to include the feelings (rather than specific details). Your prayers for these things should not only include your well-being but the betterment of all involved. Ask yourself, "Do my prayers sound like selfish requests? Whose life will this improve? How will this make a difference in my life and in the lives of others?" When your will and God’s will are in alignment, miracles happen.

  2. You don’t believe that you really deserve it. If you’re praying for financial wealth, for example, but you have subconscious blocks to abundance, it’s going to be difficult for you to manifest this in your life. It’s important to release limiting beliefs based on childhood, family, religious, or societal limitations that you are still holding onto. Energy healing work can help with this. Work on healing & opening your lower chakras. This can also be done by reprogramming the subconscious mind with visualization and positive affirmations. Connecting with your inner child through meditation is also beneficial.

  3. Your pipeline to the higher realms is clogged. It’s important through regular meditation to work with all parts of your mind; subconscious, conscious and superconscious. In our busy and often stressful daily lives, many of us have lost touch with these other parts of our mind or maybe are unaware of their function, importance, and power. A regular meditation practice can help you reconnect and find balance in all areas of your mind. As mentioned above, healing and releasing negative memories, experiences and feelings from your subconscious is critical. As well as, connecting with your Higher Self and the Divine spirit through your Superconscious. Unfortunately, many people are only functioning through their conscious mind and wondering why their prayers are not being answered (aka- they are not manifesting their desires). Allow your Higher Self and the Divine to assist you and flow through you.

  4. You are not open to receive. If your prayers are not being answered, it may be because you're not allowing them in. The purpose of prayer is not to tell God what you want and then wait for something or someone to miraculously swoop in and solve your problems. You have to get into the right alignment or vibrational frequency to receive inspired ideas and guidance. God always responds to our thoughts and prayers, but the problem is we aren’t open to receiving. If you truly want to receive answers to your prayers in the form of guidance from God, or celestial beings from Higher realms, such as angels, then you have to be open to receive. A lot of people pray, say affirmations and visualize yet they still don’t receive an answer to their prayers. Why is this? Because they aren’t open to receiving. Usually, they have a predetermined outcome and anything less they dismiss. You have to be open to guidance. You have to accept that your prayers may be answered in unexpected ways! If you’re not, you will miss signs and opportunities that could be part of your answer.

  5. You do not take action on the guidance that you are given. When you receive guidance (signs, synchronicities, ideas), it’s important to trust and take action. Trust your thoughts, ideas and “gut-feelings”, otherwise known as intuition. Do not hesitate for fear of making the wrong choice. It is safe and important for you to move forward with these changes and take action (even if one small step)... even if you’re not sure where it’s taking you- follow it and move forward with these Inspired ideas.

  6. Your prayers are insincere or inconsistent. Don’t pray haphazardly, without faith that your prayers will be answered. Have complete conviction that they are being heard and will be answered. Have a regular, daily ritual. Having commitment and devotion is important. This does not have to be a long, elaborate process. The most important thing is that your intentions are sincere and heartfelt. You could say, “God, help me with this, please!”  Prayer can be that simple! When done on a consistent basis (even if only for a few minutes when in your car), regular pray will deepen your connection to the Divine. Your devotion will bring forth inspired ideas (answers) more frequently.

  7. It is not right for. You may be asking for something that is not good for your Soul. Our Divine Creator can see what’s best for us and all who are involved with the situation you are praying about. This can be very difficult to grasp and leave many feeling frustrated and sad when they have unanswered prayers. This always makes me think of the Garth Brooks song, Unanswered Prayers. "Just because he doesn't answer, doesn't mean he doesn't care. Some of God's greatest gifts are unanswered prayers." If you’ve followed all of the above steps, but still are not receiving answers, you must trust that this just might not be good for you (at least not right now). It could also mean that the timing is not right and certain things, or people, or situations have to align before this can come to you. You could always say, “I ask for this...or something better.” Trust in Divine timing. Always. If it's good for your soul, it will come when the time is right.

Other ways to receive answers to your prayers include:

  • Inspired writing~ Get a journal. Say a prayer. Ask a question. Then, just write! Don’t stop writing. You can set a timer if you’d like (for 5 min. or so). Just write whatever comes to you without judgment. Keep your pen moving the whole time. I do not recommend using a computer or electronic device to type. There is something sacred about putting pen to paper.

  • Dreams~ Before you go to bed, ask your Higher Self to show you a solution to your problem. Ask to be shown what actions you should take. Ask to remember the details in the morning. Then, write down everything you can remember when you wake-up.

  • Signs~ Ask for signs. Signs come in funny ways sometimes, such as a song lyric or a conversation with someone. It could also be a feather, a bird, or phrase on a billboard. Angel numbers can also be signs for you to pay attention to. You can look up the meaning of number sequences that you see repeatedly.

When you live life from a place of love and gratitude for everyone and everything, you are aligning with the Divine. When you start reaching out and caring for people, making choices that are more selfless, more compassionate and less obsessed with yourself, your connection with your Higher Self opens up and allows Divine assistance to flow to you.  This bridges your connection allowing you to receive answers to your prayers. Your prayers will start being answered in almost miraculous ways!

With love,

Andrea
