Loving Kindness Walking Meditation

This is one of my all-time favorite meditations. I practice it regularly. If you have participated in my weekly live Reiki sessions, you have likely experienced this process before. The full 4-Step meditation you can do from home is outlined in my book The Chakra Activation Method in the Heart Chakra chapter beginning on pg. 167.
 
Loving-kindness meditation (sometimes called “metta” meditation) is a great way to cultivate more kindness. It involves mentally sending goodwill, kindness, and warmth towards others by silently repeating mantras.
 
This is a Buddhist meditation and I have adapted it slightly adding words and phrases I have incorporated from different teachings. You can do the meditation in your own home, in a place where you will not be distracted.
 
However, today I want to share a variation of it with you called the Loving Kindness Walking Meditation. I've merged several practices into one (the Loving Kindness Meditation + The Reiki Principles + a variation of an Essene blessing walk).
 
If you're familiar with the S.H.I.N.E. Reiki principles that I teach in the Shine Reiki School, this is putting the S and H in S.H.I.N.E. (Be Sensitive) & Be in Harmony). Today, show kindness and compassion to yourself and all living beings. Today, let go of anger and forgive yourself & others. 
 
This is a marvelous healing tool. We actually heal ourselves and open our Heart Chakra as we continue to practice this technique. And we send healing energy to others they can use to heal themselves.
 
The Loving Kindness Walk - Step One

Dress comfortably. Choose a place where you'll see people as you walk. It could be around your neighborhood, a park, hiking trail, mall or outside shopping center, etc.  Choose a time, go there and just start walking at whatever pace feels comfortable (walking at least 30 minutes a day is an excellent form of exercise)

Find a quiet place to center yourself before you begin the walk. Close your eyes and imagine a a tiny spark of white light in your Heart chakra. This is the Divine spark within you. Take a few deep breaths in and out. On each exhale imagine the light grows larger and larger, until it extends out and completely surrounds you. You will be shining this Divine light from your aura on your walk.

The Loving Kindness Walk - Step Two
As you walk, pay attention to the people who you pass. Smile. Send them a telepathic message, a blessing of Loving Kindness. You could make up your own blessing and just say it in your mind and feel it in your heart. Send that loving kindness blessing to each person you pass.
 
For example, you could quietly say inside your mind, this part of the Loving Kindness Meditation:
 

May you be at peace, May your heart remain open,
May you awaken to the light of your own true nature,
May you be healed, May you be a source of healing for all beings.
 

Continue walking and blessing those who come into your awareness. Do this as long as you want and as often as you want.

The Loving Kindness Walk - Step Three

As you continue to walk comfortably, sending heart-felt loving kindness blessings to those who come into your field of awareness, now become aware of the animals and insects who also come into your awareness. These creatures are children of the Divine just as we are. They made a decision to come into this world at this time for a purpose too.

We and they are all a part of the same Divine spark. The difference between us is that we have the power to stomp and kill them. Whenever we do that we destroy a little part of ourselves. We are all brothers and sisters and the Divine loves each of us unconditionally. Consider these creature os mother earth as you continue your Loving Kindness Walk. Be Sensitive to their needs.

Send the animals and insects a kindness blessing too. They deserve to have an easier life with more love and compassion just as humans do. Smile at them and send them a heart-felt loving kindness blessing too as you continue to send blessings to all humans you see.

The Loving Kindness Walk - Step Four

As you continue on your walk, blessing the people and animals you meet along the way, now become aware of the plants, trees and flowers that come into your awareness.

These living things made a conscious decision to be here in this physical reality just as humans and the animals did.

Research has shown that prayer helps people, animals and plants heal faster than without our prayers. So, as you become aware of flowers, plants and trees on your Loving Kindness Walk, send them a heart-felt blessing too. We're all here in this lifetime to help one another. 

The Loving Kindness Walk - Step Five

As you continue on your walk, blessing the people, plants and animals that come into your awareness, begin to now notice the rocks, dirt, buildings, roads and other things to come into your awareness. All of these things are a part of the Divine just as much as you and I.

These things may not have the feelings that plants, animals and humans have. However, they can be affected by emotions of humans & animals and store them. You can sense the energy of certain places (whether it is positive & uplifting or dense & heavy).

Over the course of several days or weeks, notice how the energy of that thing or that place change, how the vibration there is more inviting. It seems that by blessing the things in our life, those things return a blessing to us and others.


As you become aware of all of these people, animals, plants and things on your walk, send them a heart-felt loving kindness blessing. With practice, you become a Loving Kindness blessing-sending walking machine. You will develop a positive aura around yourself and send that blessing, that prayer, telepathically to whomever you see, or come into contact with.

New ways of living and being are revealing themselves, and now is the time to receive them more fully. Give yourself permission to love unconditionally, even the parts of yourself (and others) that are hard to love. Doing this meditation regularly will help you tune into the planet's new higher frequency of LOVE pulsing now, hear the healing sounds of nature, the new frequencies of light flowing through you, your life and your body.

All of your existing knowledge and wisdom are deepening and becoming more embedded and integrated now. Trust yourself to flow with this and make the choices and adjustments in your life these times require, new higher choices based on LOVE.

Love and care for yourself and others more deeply now, for you are blessed and greatly loved by the divine Creator.
